Green Card Lottery 

Beginning today, entrants from last year’s calendar year 2010 diversity visa lottery (DV-2012) can check on-line to see if they won.
An unknown number of temporary visa holders from Albuquerque are part of the 14.77 million applicants from last year (19.67 million including spouses and children) that will be checking their status beginning today at the Electronic Status Check (ESC) web address at: http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/.
Just like last year, applicants need three pieces of information from your 2010 green card lottery registration: 1) Your CONFIRMATION NUMBER, 2) your FAMILY NAME (Last Name), and 3) your BIRTH YEAR. Unlike last year, you can now check the status of your winning application beginning May 1, 2011 instead of July 1.  Electronic Status Checking for DV-2012 is available until June 30, 2012.
Your confirmation number was provided if you successfully entered last fall. It is the 16-character number, similar to this: 2012lO0DZWY1DOV9. When checking your number, do not confuse a “1” with an “I” or a "0" with an "O" which, of course, are separate characters. Next, enter the 6 digit “CAPTCHA” security code shown on the screen.
Once you have completed the Entrant information and entered the Authentication Code, the status of your entry will be displayed. It will display a different message based on whether or not your entry was selected for further processing, or if an interview appointment has been scheduled. If you did not win, you will receive this message:
Based on the information provided, the Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing for the 2012 Electronic Diversity Visa program. Please verify that you have entered all information correctly. You may re-check the Entry status by clicking on the ESC Home Page link below.
If you won the lottery, the ESC site will display a letter with information on what to do next. And, after you have received a notification e-mail, ESC will display an appointment letter with information about your immigrant visa interview.
If you have not received a Selectee e-mail by August 1, 2011, but the site indicates that your entry has been selected for further processing, then the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) is your primary point of contact for any additional information. KCC can be reached by e-mail at kccdv@state.gov.
