A preview for WWE Extreme Rules, which is the one night of the year where the WWE goes totally extreme.
WWE Extreme Rules takes place May 1, 2011 live from the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. WWE Extreme Rules is where the WWE for one night only goes totally extreme. The six matches on the card are special types of matches that you don't always see otherwise. On this year's card are two title matches, 3 singles matches, and one tag team match. The card for the most part consists of feuds that are continuing on from Wrestlemania and that look to finally come to an end this upcoming Sunday. With a good set of superstars and the specialty of each match, WWE Extreme Rules has potential to be a really great show.
WWE Extreme Rules Mid-card Matches
1. Tag Team Country Whipping Match
Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross Vs. Michael Cole and Jack SwaggerThe WWE commentators of Raw are going at it once again. Last month at Wrestlemania 27, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole faced off with Cole winning by DQ thanks to a late call by the mystery general manager. WWE's all time great announcer Jim Ross is now involved in this feud and will look to get his revenge on Michael Cole. Jim Ross has been humiliated by Cole over the last several weeks with Cole imitating him and even squirting BBQ all over him. Jim Ross gave a preview of what Cole can expect from him this past Monday, as Ross gave Cole a bloody lip and slaps with a strap when fighting him in a singles match on Raw. Will Michael Cole finally get what he deserves and can Swagger and Cole get coexist with one another?

6. Steel Cage Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship
What originally was supposed to be a singles match turned into a triple threat match thanks to the raw general manager. In the five man gauntlet match on Raw a few weeks ago, the finals came down to Cena vs. R-truth. The match ended in Double DQ after interference from the Miz, so with no clear winner the Raw GM decided that they would both fight the Miz. John Morrison though has now found himself into the match after taking the spot away from R-truth two weeks ago. John Cena has an opportunity to once again win the title he loves so much. The Miz will look to further dominate as champion, while Morrison will look to capture his first-ever WWE Championship.
The WWE Extreme Rules Card is looking great because of the great potential it carries. If given the right amount of time, all of these matches could deliver and be great to watch. Many of these feuds will be coming to a close, as Alberto Del RIo, Rey Mysterio, and Randy Orton all have new homes as a result of the WWE Draft. The results of the matches in this event could cause for questions, as if Del RIo wins, then that would mean both major titles would be on Raw. WWE Superstars will put it all on the line tomorrow night when everything goes extreme.

Layla Vs. Michelle McCool
What was once the great duo known as Lay-Cool, is now in shambles and made up of two Divas who are now the furthest from being friends. Lay-Cool had been losing many tag team matches lately, including a match against celebrity Snooki at Wrestlemania 27. A few weeks ago on Smackdown, Michelle McCool wouldn't allow Layla to tag her in and beat her up after the match. The duo tried to work things out, but that didn't last long, as last week on Smackdown Layla gave a brutal beating to Michelle. These two former friends will now put their careers on the line this Sunday at Extreme Rules.3. Falls Count Anywhere Match
Cody Rhodes Vs. Rey Mysterio
Defeating Rey Mysterio is not enough for Cody Rhodes, as he now wants to destroy Mysterio and make sure he never wrestles another WWE match. Cody Rhodes still does not forgive Mysterio for the broken nose he suffered and so he wants Mysterio to face the same fate as him. With Mysterio being drafted over to Raw, this is the last time that these two will meet. Cody Rhodes has promised that he will deliver a special present to Mysterio, so will that promise hold true or will Mysterio get one last win before his jump over to Raw?WWE Extreme Rules Main Event Matches
4. Last Man Standing Match
Randy Orton Vs. C.M. Punk
C.M. Punk has not forgotten what happened three years ago when he suffered a brutal attack at the hands of Randy Orton, which forced him to drop the world title. C.M Punk has not been very luck though as just when he thinks he has Orton where he wants him, Orton in the end always seems to come out on top. Orton will look to keep that true this Sunday against Punk in a last man standing match, where only one man will be standing tall after the count of ten.5. Ladder Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship
Christian Vs. Alberto Del RIo
The biggest match of Christian's career comes this Sunday, as he has a chance to win his first ever major championship in the WWE. The match was originally supposed to be Edge vs. Del RIo, but that all changed when Edge announced his unexpected retirement a few weeks ago. By winning a twenty man battle royal, Christian earned the right to fight Del Rio for the vacant title. Del Rio really wants to be champion after blowing the huge opportunity when losing to Edge at Wrestlemania. Who will be the new World Heavyweight Champion, as Christian looks to finally reach his life long dream and Del RIo looks to fulfill his destiny?6.
